Architectural Project Manager (Tokyo, Japan / Chinese–Japanese Interpreting & Translation)A Japan construction development project led from headquarters in Taiwan: be the engineering and language bridge between Taiwan and Japan, based in Tokyo

This role puts your architectural expertise and language skills to work at the same time. Based in Tokyo, you will represent the project side as the main contact with local construction companies: attending development meetings as a Chinese–Japanese / English–Japanese interpreter, turning meeting outcomes into minutes, checking design and construction progress on site and writing reports, and reviewing translations of drawings and contract documents. Hands-on construction experience in Japan is exactly what this team most needs to strengthen right now, so your judgment will be acted on directly, not just relayed. The entire process is handled confidentially by a consultant.

Why this opportunity

Your hands-on architecture experience in Japan will be relied on directly

This team is still building its experience in Japanese architectural practice and needs someone who can offer professional judgment, not just translate words. Your input on planning, design and construction will genuinely shape how projects move forward.

Put your architectural expertise and language skills to work together

Most interpreting roles don't involve professional judgment, and most engineering roles don't require languages. This role needs both, which is exactly why both sides of your background count: an architecture or civil engineering background combined with Japanese communication skills is genuinely rare in the market. The planned salary is currently JPY 300,000–350,000 per month, a starting point the hiring team set based on its current structure; compensation and job level can be discussed further at the interview.

Construction experience in Japan becomes a hard-to-replace part of your résumé

Front-line construction experience in Tokyo is far rarer than a pure interpreting or pure engineering role, and it will become a hard-to-replace part of your résumé.

FAQ

I'm currently employed—will my application be exposed?+

No. This role is handled confidentially from start to finish. We never send your résumé to the employer without your consent, and we never tell your current employer or any third party that you are exploring opportunities. You can also name companies you don't want to be referred to, and your consultant will note them during the first conversation.

How does the interview process work?+

The first step is an online text conversation with A-Cai, our AI interviewer, which takes about 20 to 30 minutes at a time you choose. Next, a human consultant holds a confidential first conversation with you to understand your situation and expectations. Only with your consent will we recommend you to the employer and arrange formal interviews.

What level of Japanese is required? Is it OK if I have no certificate?+

The employer requires fluent business communication, because you will interpret Chinese–Japanese and English–Japanese in architecture and development meetings and review translations of drawings and contracts. The employer has not specified a test level; what matters is your actual ability to handle meetings and documents.

Can I apply without a Japanese architect license?+

The hiring side's requirement is work experience in architecture, civil engineering or a related field; licenses such as a Japanese architect's license are not required. If the hiring side has other preferences, your consultant will explain them in the first conversation.

Monthly salary of JPY 300,000–350,000: how much do I actually take home?+

Monthly salary of JPY 300,000–350,000, plus a commuting allowance of up to JPY 20,000 per month. A consultant will walk you through the full salary breakdown during the initial phone conversation.

How are the work visa, social insurance and employing entity handled?+

The information provided by the hiring company does not cover these items, so we will not make promises on its behalf in advance. After your first conversation, your consultant will confirm directly with the employer the employing entity (local hire by the Japanese entity or assignment from Taiwan), whether visa support is provided, and how insurance enrollment works, and then give you a complete answer.

How much travel is involved, and where to?+

The employer describes occasional domestic business trips within Japan but has not given a specific frequency. Your consultant will confirm the actual share of travel and travel arrangements for you.

Is the initial interview really conducted by AI?+

Yes. The first step is an online text conversation with A-Cai, our AI interviewer, and we never pretend it is a person. All communication, recommendations and interview scheduling after that are handled by human consultants.
