News Social Media Editor (1-year contract, early/late shifts)Staffing · 1-year fixed-term contract | NT$42,000–45,000/month | Early 08:00–17:00 / late 14:00–23:00 rotation | Neihu, Taipei

This role is at an online news outlet's office in Neihu, Taipei, on a one-year fixed-term contract with 1 opening. Your job is to own your shift: you pick the stories for the shift's Facebook posts, write the headlines and copy, hit publish, and reply to comments and messages. Each shift also sends one LINE Official Account push (morning shift at 12:15, evening shift at 19:30), and which story to push and how to write the headline are your call. When breaking news hits, you decide during your shift whether to cover it and how closely. You rotate between the morning shift (08:00–17:00) and the evening shift (14:00–23:00), and weekends and public holidays follow the rota. During the assignment you sign a formal employment contract with Step1ne (德仁管理顧問有限公司), and your day-to-day work takes place at the host company's office.

Why this opportunity

On your shift, you make the calls

What to post during your shift, whether to push, and how to headline it — you make the call and publish it yourself. For a social media editor, a year of “hitting publish yourself” is far more substantial than just handling scheduling on a large team.

Two platforms, and after a year, a complete track record of hands-on operations

Topic selection and engagement on a Facebook Page, plus one LINE Official Account push message per shift. After a full year, you'll have real hands-on experience and a performance record on two platforms—not just writing skills.

No interviewing or video editing skills needed, and any field of study is fine

The hiring company has made clear that this role does not involve reporting or in-depth writing, video shooting or editing, or graphic design expertise, and any major is welcome. What matters is news judgment and the ability to write Chinese headlines.

Shift rules laid out upfront

You rotate between morning and evening shifts, work weekends and national holidays per the roster, and get 8 days off per month; shift intervals follow Article 34 of the Labor Standards Act, so you will never be scheduled for an evening shift followed by the next day's morning shift. We lay out the conditions up front so you can judge for yourself whether the rhythm suits your life.

Salary ranges stated upfront

NT$42,000–45,000 per month based on experience; those with hands-on experience managing a Facebook Page backend can be offered the top of the range. You will not have to apply and finish interviews before you know whether the terms work.

A Step1ne consultant with you all the way

FAQ

Do staffing workers get the same rights as permanent employees?+

During the assignment, you sign a formal employment contract with Step1ne (德仁管理顧問有限公司). Wages, labor and health insurance, pension contributions, annual leave, overtime pay, holiday work pay, and occupational injury compensation all follow the Labor Standards Act and related regulations, the same as for any regular employee. This is a fixed-term contract, and your rights at the end of the contract are also governed by the Labor Standards Act. Day-to-day work takes place at the client's office, with shift tasks assigned by the on-site supervisor, but Step1ne carries the employer's responsibilities.

How do early and late shifts rotate? Could I get an early shift right after a late one?+

Early shift 08:00–17:00 and late shift 14:00–23:00; you'll rotate between both, work weekends and public holidays per the roster, and get 8 days off per month. The hiring company has clearly stated that shift intervals comply with Article 34 of the Labor Standards Act, and a late shift will never be followed by an early shift the next day. How many days or weeks between shift changes, and how far in advance the roster is published, weren't provided by the source—your consultant will ask on your behalf at the initial call.

With a monthly salary of NT$42,000–45,000, how much will I actually take home?+

The public page shows the total range: a monthly salary of NT$42,000–45,000 depending on experience, with candidates who have hands-on experience managing a Facebook Page back end eligible for the top of the range. Your consultant will explain exactly how the pay is structured during the first phone conversation, and you can ask anything you want then. Work on public holidays and overtime are paid separately as required by law.

This is a one-year fixed-term contract. What happens when it ends? Is renewal or a permanent position possible?+

The hiring unit has not given us any commitment on contract renewal or conversion to a permanent role, so we don't state one on this page. The actual contract start and end dates are also still being confirmed with the hiring unit, and we will update the page once they are. If this matters to you, we will ask on your behalf during the interview and pass on the hiring unit's reply word for word.

Can I apply without a journalism background or experience running social media for a media outlet?+

Yes. The hiring organization does not require any particular major. What this role really needs is the judgment to run a shift on your own: deciding for yourself whether a story goes out and whether to send a push notification, and writing good headlines. Experience with the Facebook Page back end and LINE Official Account push messages is a plus, not a requirement. If you have run social media or produced real-time content in another field, describe what you actually did when you apply.

Will I need to do interviews, write in-depth articles, or edit videos?+

No. The hiring organization has made clear that this role does not require reporting and in-depth writing, video shooting and editing, or graphic design expertise. The work focuses on social media story selection, copywriting and posting during your shift, plus LINE push messages. Being able to make image cards (Canva is fine) is a plus, not a requirement.

What is the interview process? Will I be interviewed by AI?+

Yes. The initial interview is done by AI, by text or voice, to check whether your shift availability and social media experience match this job. If you pass, a consultant will arrange an in-person interview with the hiring unit. You can choose the time of the AI interview yourself, so there's no need to take time off.

Do I have to work weekends and public holidays?+

You rotate according to the schedule. Not every weekend or holiday is a working day, but be prepared for your turn — this is standard for news social media shifts. You get 8 days off per month, and public holiday work is paid at the statutory premium. If you cannot work weekends or holidays at all, scheduling will be very difficult for this role, so please mention it in the first call.
